Forest School Training

NEWS FLASH

Since 2023 Forest School training costs on our courses for practitioners who live in Cambridgeshire can be fully funded by Cambridgeshire County Council (subject to confirmation of eligibility criteria)

“Forest school is a long-term programme that supports play, exploration and supported risk-taking. It develops confidence and self esteem through learner inspired, hands on experiences in a natural setting”- Forest School Association.

At Under the Hazels we believe that the benefits to children from playing, learning and growing in a Forest School environment are huge and diverse and include increased self confidence and self esteem, cooperation and collaboration skills, problem solving and resilience.

With over 13 years experience of supporting new and aspiring Forest School practitioners, Under the Hazels training is founded on the 6 core Forest School principles (a key requirement for any centre/setting to be recognised as a “Forest School” by the Forest School Association).

Our Training

Under the Hazels delivers Forest School training at Levels 2, and 3.  This enables our learners to choose the qualification that most suits them and to top up to leadership level if they wish.

Level 2 is targeted at those wanting to know more about Forest School and for those interested in helping or supporting, but not for those wishing to lead a group.

Level 3 gives you all the skills and knowledge you need to become a Forest School leader and take children into the woods to learn.  This is the most popular course.

All our training uses accredited qualifications approved by Ofqual and awarded either by Aim Qualifications and Assessment Group or ITC First (qualifications are recognised by the Forest School Association).
